Mulled Wine- Easy Spiced Wine, also called as Glühwein.Such an easy way to bring holiday cheer to your home! Oh and the smell is so so wonderful! You wont need any special candles after making this!

You can either make it in the instant pot with just 1 minute of cooking, hands free or you can make it on stove top. Both these methods are quite easy, even for a novice cook.

Ingredients for Mulled Wine

Red Wine- I honestly buy a cheap wine to make this. The flavors are all from the spices and fruits so even a cheap wine can be lifted into awesomeness with this.

Fruits- Apples & Oranges. Sometimes dry fruits like raisins are also added.

Spices- Cinnamon, Cloves & Star Anise.

Sugar- This is optional. You can add whatever kind of sugar you like- White, Brown or a healthy alternative.

Apple Cider or Cranberry Juice- This is also optional and is completely up to what’s available.

Hard Alcohol- You can spike the mulled wine with brandy but do so after cooking.

How to make Mulled Wine in Instant Pot

It’s quite easy actually. It’s one of those dump and walk away kind of recipes.Just add everything to the pot and set the pressure cooker for 1 minute on high pressure. Remember to close the pressure valve.

Irrespective of how much wine or ingredients you add , you can keep the pressure cooking time as 1 minute.

The important bit to note is that the pressure has to be quick released 2-3 minutes after the pressure cooking time is up. Moreover, you are letting out highly pressurized alcohol so don’t smoke or light a fire anywhere near the pressured stream.

How to make Mulled wine on stove top

Again, it’s easy here. Add everything to the pot, bring to a gentle simmer for 20-30 minutes, till the fruits soften.

Do not boil the mulled wine or all the alcohol will evaporate.

Notes

Treat this recipe as a guide more than an absolutely rigid instruction You can add more wine or less juice as per your liking.

IMPORTANT NOTE-Wait for 2-3 minutes before you quick release the steam. While quick releasing the steam, make sure you don’t do it around any kind of fire. The steam from the instant pot will contain vapors of alcohol.
